For as long as I can remember I have wanted to serve my fellow Americans, following in the footsteps of generations of family members. Although an injury excluded me from military service, I have always wanted to defend my country.
I am a proud American and I feel I have a moral obligation to uphold the rights and freedoms our forefathers gave their lives to make possible for us to enjoy.
Through some deep and meaningful conversations with my son as he was preparing to be commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy, I had a revelation that I can be a defender of our country through public service. I was blessed with the opportunity to finally meet my calling when friends and neighbors asked and encouraged me to run for the office of Rio Grande County Commissioner in the upcoming primary election.
• It’s important to me to eliminate all wasteful spending of county revenues. I believe that with a fresh perspective on the budget and heightened oversight we will find ourselves with resources to benefit all citizens in the county.
• Tourism and economic development are major issues for the county. I am exploring various ideas to support local businesses In a global economy and to foster new business here in the county.
• I firmly believe that youth development programs are necessary to raise up future generations of educated and law-abiding citizens who will contribute to the community. I would like to support 4-H and other programs dedicated to this goal.
